Hospitalfield Staff Micro Residency

Innovation Studio is excited to offer a 4-day micro residency at Hospitalfield for RCS members of staff to develop an area of their work or creative practice. This is an opportunity for participants to step away from their daily responsibilities and focus on an idea or project they don’t currently have space for, reflect on their wider practice, or plan for the future.

• All current RCS members of staff are eligible to apply.
• Applicants will be asked to complete a brief online form to note their interest.
• Participants will be chosen through a randomised selection process.
• Previous participants cannot attend the residency a second time.
• Note of Interest deadline: Monday 11 May 2026 at 17:00.
• Applicants will be notified by Thursday 14 May 2026.
• Successful Applicants will be asked to confirm their place and provide supporting information by Thursday 21 May at 17:00.

Details

The residency is open to all staff who work at least 1 day a week at the Conservatoire (0.2 FTE or 7 hours per week), including teaching, research and professional services staff.

No detailed proposal is required at the time of application, but you should have a clear idea of what you wish to work on during the residency.

At previous residencies, participants composed new music, did deep-focus research, wrote a journal article, reviewed their approach to giving student feedback, and experimented with new voice techniques, among other things.

This is a solo residency (unfortunately, we cannot accept joint applications) with access to optional group activities where you can share ideas and inspiration with fellow participants.
