Split Screen

For its second phase, Split Screen has received further support through the Scottish Government's Ecosystem Community Fund to create a series of workshops and meetups, led by the RCS Innovation Studio in partnership with Arcadia, Citizens Theatre, Creative Glasgow, and The Work Room.

Using open-source, low-cost, and free tools, the programme lowers barriers to entry and supports participation, empowering our community to experiment, innovate, and tell stories in entirely new ways.

Workshop participants will receive a £100 contribution to support attendance, with equipment provided on request. Access and care costs will also be covered.

Performing Digital Selves w/ MV Brown SOLD OUT!
28 September 10:00-16:00 (Online/Hybrid), repeated on 29 September

Create your own digital twins in this intensive one-day workshop led by performance artist MV Brown. Starting with smartphone-based 3D scanning, participants will capture the human form and translate it into a digital model. Working with freely available tools including Mixamo, DeepMotion, and Blender, you will learn how to rig your avatar, experiment with AI-powered motion capture, and create a short animated sequence.

Workshop Host: Rooted in performance, MV Brown's practice uses the human body and new technologies to explore tensions across embodied subjectivity, the body as spectacle, and socio-techno constructs of gender and sexuality. Their practice builds upon questions around the (non) performance of daily life & identity in a post-internet context.

Build Your Own Reality w/ Doppel Real SOLD OUT!
27 August, 9:30-12:30 (Online/Hybrid)

In this beginner-friendly session, led by digital media artist Dennis Reinmüller, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of digital environment design using open-source 3D software Blender. Working with a library of ready-made assets, you'll learn to build and light your own digital environments, explore simple blocking techniques, and export your work beyond Blender.

Workshop Host: Dennis creates works at the intersection of visual art, performance, and digital storytelling. In 2021, he co-founded digital-reality studio Doppel Real, which makes digital creative practice accessible through workshops, open-source methods, and community-building.
